PAVING
THE
WAY
FOR
OKLAHOMA COUNTY
As an experienced auditor of county governments under former State Auditor and Inspector Clifton Scott, I know where Oklahoma County falls short for all of us who proudly call District 1 our home.
Our roads, our jail, and our communities have been overlooked and poorly funded for too long. I’ll be READY ON DAY ONE to bring your voice to the county level, to fix the roads our taxes pay for, and to ensure that ALL communities in District 1 receive the attention and funding they need with the accountability we deserve.
Reasonable. Reliable. READY!
DEEP OKLAHOMA ROOTS
A fifth-generation Oklahoman, Harry Meister is a longtime civic leader, small business owner, and former newspaper publisher in Oklahoma City whose deep roots in community service and the private sector have shaped a career dedicated to strengthening local communities.
A WATCHDOG FOR OKLAHOMA COUNTY
As Oklahoma County Commissioner for District 1, Harry will be a watchdog for ALL of Oklahoma County.
Having worked for more than a decade auditing county governments under (former) State Auditor and Inspector Clifton Scott, Harry knows firsthand what it takes to improve public systems, including Oklahoma County’s roads, sheriffs’ offices, jails, and county operations. He helped many rural governments find solutions for more efficient processes.
SUPPORTING TINKER AFB
As a U.S. Air Force veteran, Harry understands that Tinker Air Force Base isn’t just a community asset—it’s part of the backbone of our local economy.
As Oklahoma County Commissioner for District 1, he’ll be a tireless advocate for Tinker to ensure that our county government prioritizes the infrastructure and stability that help Tinker and its surrounding communities thrive.
COMMON SENSE SOLUTIONS FOR THE COUNTY JAIL
Harry recognizes that many of the challenges at the Oklahoma County Jail are symptoms of a larger failure to address mental health and substance abuse in our community. He’ll bring the right experience and common-sense solutions for alternatives that are more impactful than incarceration.
READY ON DAY ONE
Harry has worked for 15 years as a licensed insurance broker and previously owned and published the MidCity Advocate newspaper. With more than 25 years of dedication to local civic organizations and a degree in Public Relations and Political Science from the University of Central Oklahoma, Harry brings a practical, experienced perspective to serving Oklahoma County District 1. He and his wife, Dana, a board member of Oklahoma City Public Schools, reside in historic Mesta Park in Oklahoma City.
WHAT I’LL FOCUS ON:
Better Roads That Actually Get Fixed
Fixing the roads people rely on every day
Completing projects on time
Being upfront about where tax dollars are going
Responsible Spending across the Board
You shouldn’t need a finance degree to know where your tax dollars are going.
Cutting waste where it exists
Making sure budgets are easier to understand
Prioritizing projects that have been neglected for too long
Smart Growth…Not CHAOS
Growth without a plan leads to traffic problems, strain on services, and frustration
Balance development with infrastructure
Plan ahead instead of reacting late
Maintain regular communication and collaboration with local mayors and cities
Make sure projects benefit our county’s residents—not just the developers
Accountability You Can See
Public service should feel…public.
You deserve to know what your County government is doing.
Ensure easy access to meetings and updates
Maintain transparency of the Commission
Guarantee responsiveness to constituents
WHAT DOES A COUNTY COMMISSIONER DO?
Fair question—most people aren’t thinking about county government every day.
Maintain county roads and bridges
Help manage the county budget
Oversee development and infrastructure planning
Support key services like the sheriff’s office and county operations
As a former State Auditor, Harry Meister doesn't just see the problems; he knows how to follow the money and fix them. Harry is running for County Commissioner, District One, to root out waste, fraud, and abuse, ensuring that every taxpayer dollar is an investment in safer streets, a more humane justice system, and a stronger Oklahoma County.
